What happens to your data while we work together

A job search involves sharing a great deal about yourself. Here is what we hold, why we hold it, and the rights you keep under UK GDPR.

To represent you well, we need to know a lot about you: your work history, your ambitions, sometimes your reasons for wanting to leave a job. That is sensitive information, and you deserve a clear account of how we treat it.

We hold what we need, and nothing more

Our rule is restraint. We collect information because it helps us do the work, not because it might be useful someday. Typically that means:

  • Your contact details.
  • Your CV, qualifications, and work history.
  • The roles and organisations you are interested in.
  • Notes from our conversations, so we do not ask you the same question twice.
  • A record of applications and replies during your search.

We do not ask for information we do not need, and we will tell you why we are asking whenever it is not obvious.

It stays within the engagement

What you share with us is used to support your search. We do not sell it, and we do not pass your details to employers without your agreement. When an application goes to an organisation, it goes because you sent it.

It leaves when you do

When an engagement ends, your information does not linger indefinitely. We keep what we are required to keep for legal and accounting reasons, for as long as we are required to keep it, and we delete the rest.

Your rights under UK GDPR

The practice operates under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, overseen by the Information Commissioner’s Office. In plain terms, you have the right to:

  • Be informed about how your data is used.
  • Access the personal data we hold about you. Organisations normally have one month to respond to a request.
  • Correct anything that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Ask us to erase your data, where there is no legal reason for us to keep it.
  • Restrict or object to certain uses of your data.
  • Receive your data in a portable format, in some circumstances.

If you are ever unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can raise it with us directly, and you also have the right to complain to the ICO.

A complete account, on request

Every action we take on your work is recorded on our platform as it happens. That record is not only for our benefit. At any moment you may ask what was done, when, and why, and we will show you in full.

Compliance is a floor here, not a ceiling. The real standard is simple: treat your information the way we would want ours treated.
